Series 2 Tivo Sound cutting out?

I've had a Series 2 Tivo for about 2 or 3 years now. The sound keeps cutting out and crackling alot. I've tried everything the tivo forums have said to do and changed the audio cables, switched to mono channel, switching ports on the back of the tivo but it still does it. Any suggestions?
