Is there a way to address knocking/popping noises in a 12 year old house?

sounds like the foundation is starting to settle. A little movement is normal but, when you start seeing cracks that's a different story. Keep a close eye on any cracks and watch for new ones around doors and windows. You may have to call a foundation company to address the issue if it gets worse.
