Definitely the layered look, there is no doubt whatsoever. The faux hawk is a fad style that fully suits very few guys. The general idea with a short style is to maximize and minimize the volume of hair in various areas of the head to create the illusion of a perfect oval face shape with a more masculine boxy than rounded feminine skull shape. There are almost no combinations of male face and skull shape for which a ridge of hair down the center of the top of the head achieves either of these objectives. The ridge of hair needs to be rotated 90 degrees and moved forward to the front hairline for a short style to fully suit most guys, in other words a short pomp(pompadour) style like a crew cut or ivy league(long crew cut.) In any photo of Ronaldo wearing that style, one can cover the ridge of hair and the overly long sideburns and see how the focus shifts to his face allowing the edge of his facial bones to frame his facial features in a very complementary manner.
